PANEL 1: HISTORICAL FOUNDATIONS

Goal: Participants will learn about historical foundations in critical psychiatry, especially considering how they relate to current issues.

PANEL 2: CULTURAL PERSPECTIVES

Goal: Participants will learn about the interplay of culture and marginalization as they relate to American mental health care.

PANEL 3: PSYCHIATRIC COERCION AND PATIENT-CLINICIAN DYNAMICS

Goal: Participants will learn about the processes by which client agency and openness is reduced in clinical contexts.

PANEL 4: SCIENTIFIC CONTROVERSIES

Goal: Participants will learn about current issues in mental health care, especially with regards to nosology, chemical imbalance theory, and the replication crisis.
